SVENGALI (1931)

LONDON BELONGS TO ME (1948)

The characters who share a rented house in London are affected when one of them, Percy, gets involved with gangsters and a murder. Richard Attenborough and Fay Compton and Alastair Sim star. Also titled “Dulcimer Street.”

THE BOY IN THE PLACTIC BUBBLE (1976) John Travolta stars in this ‘70’s teen fave along with Glynnis O’Conner about a boy who’s immune system is non existent and he must live in a plastic world. Won an Emmy.

 

March 25th 

BLACK TIGHTS (1961)

The four independent stories are performed in the form of ballet. (CARMEN, CYRANO DE BERGERAC…) All were choreographed by Roland Petit. Starring Cyd Cherisse and

Maurice Chivalier in two in them.

SECRET MAGIC MOVIE— In coordination with the FESTIVAL OF ILLUSIONS the Bijou is playing a “magical movie” for the whole family. But, we can’t tell you the title. April 8th

SAN DEMETRIO LONDON (1943) The San Demetrio, British merchant ship is disabled and left to the mercy of patrolling U-boats the crew must keep her afloat and out of harms way in an Atlantic convoy in 1940.

 

April 15th

GLEN OR GLENDA (1953) Cult director Ed Wood’s first movie tells two stories. One is about Glen, who secretly dresses as a woman but is afraid to tell his fiancée, Barbara. The other is about Alan, a pseudohermaphrodite who undergoes a painful operation to become a woman. Sure, it’s bad, but it’s also funny!
